Trilingual inscriptions, including Armenian
Lot 5133
Mongols. Ilkhanids. Abaqa, AH 663-681 / AD 1265-1282. Fals (Bronze, 23 mm, 2.63 g, 12 h), trilingual type, probably Dmanisi (in Georgia, near the border to Armenia). A large cross in center; around, traces of ‘der asdouatz Hisus kristos’ (‘Lord God, Jesus Christ’ in Armenian); marginal Arabic legend totally effaced. Rev. ‘Hakanu / Ariba / Abagayn / Deledkeguluk / [sen]’ (‘Struck by Abaqa, the vice-regal governor of the Khan’ in Uighur). Album 2131G. Diler A-127. Very rare. Crude strike, otherwise, very fine.

Despite the Armenian text, this type has never been found in Armenia, but in the area of Dmanisi in Georgia.
